The easiest way to create video tutorials

We need a video storyboard, Adobe Captivate or Camtasia software, and a graphic designer trained in using this software for creating video tutorials. But I want to suggest an easier way to create video tutorials.

It takes a significantly higher effort to create a video tutorial than create a document with the same information. Videos will have much bigger file sizes and are harder to deliver to the customers. Videos will go outdated very soon when some of the UI and product features change, and it is much harder to edit and maintain videos than maintain manuals. Overall, videos are not economical, and it took weeks-long efforts to create even a small video. It is not surprising that creating video tutorials was a hot idea even 20 years ago, but it never really took off.

Now come to probably the easiest way to create a video. Create a YouTube channel for your company or the product. A lot of big and small companies already do that. Create a neat PowerPoint presentation for the product or the product feature you want to explain with infographics and screenshots. Make a presentation to your customers or team members through Microsoft Teams and record this video. Upload the video to YouTube. Not really required to take down the video when some of the product features change as the video comes with a timestamp. You can once again modify the same PPT when some of the features change. Make a presentation and record and upload to YouTube once again. The video will always look authentic with genuine human interaction, and it is very efficient and easy. Your manuals and your support site can have links to your YouTube channel.

You can do all of this quickly and efficiently with the existing resources and without any additional investment.

PS: You are parallelly doing the marketing for your company when you do this, akin to having your Facebook account! YouTube channels make it easy to promote a product. Along with this, consider creating a Wikipedia page for your company and the products and also regularly maintain it. Technical Writer can have this responsibility.
